Part of the Oregon XC Classic Series and an OBRA event, this is a new race at the Ochoco National Forest along the Crooked River in beautiful Eastern Oregon. Race will start in Prineville with plenty of singletrack to challenge all skill levels. The race is a benefit for the Crook County High School athletic department who had their budget cut for the 2009/2010 school year and beyond.
The Course:
Cat 2/SS/Cat 3 course: Turn left (towards Ochoco Ranger station) out of the staging area. At the fork in the road, turn left and climb the paved road for 7 miles. At the saddle, turn right onto trail 804. The top part of the descent has some very technical rocky sections - Please use caution. Approx. 10 miles later you will be at the Ochoco Ranger station. Turn right onto the road. Take the left at the Y and pedal about a mile to the start/finish staging area. Total approx. 17 miles.
Pro/Cat 1: Continue up the road towards Walton Lake for 6 miles. Right turn onto Trail 805a, 10 miles of single track later you will cross a paved road and continue on trail 804. Follow the trail for approx. 10 miles more and you will be at the Ochoco Ranger station. Turn right onto the road, take the left fork and pedal for about a mile to the start/finish staging area. Total approx. 27 miles.

Directions:
From Prineville to course start: Head east out of town on highway 26. About 15 miles in, take a right towards Walton Lake. Follow road for 10 more miles where you will pass the Ochoco Ranger station on your left. At the the fork in the road, take the left fork (toward Walton Lake). Parking will be about a mile or 2 up the road onto the dirt road to the right.
Portland to Prineville: Highway 26 over Mt. Hood to Madras and follow all the way into Prineville. Approx. 3 hrs.
Eugene/Corvallis to Prineville: I-5 to Highway 20 to Sisters. Highway 126 from Sisters through Redmond to Prineville.

OBRA and the organizers of this race do not provide insurance coverage for injuries that occur at the race. The costs related to those injuries are the responsibility of the individual participant. Helmets must be worn at all times while on a bike.
